When I was going to Damage Controlman A-School in the Navy, I had to watch “Trial By Fire”, the film about the Forestall fire. That was pants-shittingly terrifying.

Unless you’re in the submarine force.

I was a submariner. I was going to say some other stuff in response to this but I wanted to respect all Oppos.
But I still had myself a good chuckle.

Those jet pumps are cool, I didn’t realize we used things like that.
I’d never get to that point though, as I would no doubt over do the counter- flooding, leading to counter-counter-flooding, and counter-counter-counter-flooding and so forth until Bob Ballard is out there looking for my ship.

I’ve seen pumps like that for home use, as a backup sump pump. I thought it was a pretty cool invention - if your power goes out it uses city water pressure to run the pump. Yeah, you’ll get a huge water bill, but that’s better than a flooded basement.
